Easiest way for a white person to get dreads?

i am a white male and my hair grows kinda straight and i wanna get dreads about how long would my hair have to be? also how would i get the dreads? also ow my hair is short but im growin it out and i dont know wat i should do with my hair while its growin cause i dont like it growin out all straight like wat kind of hair styles should i go with while its growin?
