What are good names for the 2 Kingdoms in my short story? (preferably chess related) ?

For my English cl I have to write a story and incorporate a twist into the end. Mine is a story told from the perspective of a pawn, and the reader is unaware of this fact. They are led to believe that it is probably a medieval war between two kingdoms, and at the end they will finally find out that it is simply a game of chess. The problem is that I can only think of one option, calling the darker colored pieces (the villains of my tale) 'The Darkness', but that seems very melodramatic to me. Also any title ideas would be really helpful! Thanks.
